UP 69000 teacher recruitment: order issued for recruitment of 31661 primary teachers

The government has issued a mandate on Thursday to start the process of appointment of 31,661 assistant teacher posts in primary schools run by the Basic Education Council. These appointments will be subject to the final decision to be passed in the Special License Petitions (SLP) for consideration in the Supreme Court.

In this order issued by Additional Chief Secretary Basic Education Renuka Kumar, the government said that in compliance with the order of May 21, 2020 and June 9, 2020 of the Supreme Court, 37,339 posts for Shiksha Mitras against 69 thousand vacant posts of assistant teachers. Leaving the remaining 31,661 posts, it has been decided to complete the recruitment process on the basis of the previously declared result.

The mandate states that the process of recruitment was started against 69 thousand vacant posts and the candidates have been allotted districts following the reservation rules as per the vacancies available in the districts. For this reason, keeping the district and reservation previously allocated to the candidates, out of 31,661 posts, the proportionate appointment of the same candidates should be issued from above the merit while allocating the posts proportionally to the districts. The Additional Chief Secretary has asked the Director General of School Education and Secretary Basic Education to immediately file a cavity in the High Court Allahabad and Lucknow benches, as the appointment process can also be challenged by the candidates.
